Join Professor Andrew Thatcher (Chair of the IEA Task Force on the Future of Work) and his guest speaker, Dr Mica Endsley (President of SA Technologies and is the former Chief Scientist for the US Air Force). 14th International Conference on Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics, to be held at San Francisco Marriott Marquis, San Francisco, California, USA from 20-24 July, 2023. The conference objective is to provide an international forum for the dissemination and exchange of scientific information on theoretical, generic, and applied areas of human factors and ergonomics. In 2016, T. Sheridan published a review paper on the status and challenges of Human-Robotic Interactions (HRI), and it continues to be one of the most cited publications in human factors. In this most recent instalment of Research to Practice, answering the “So What” question, we will have Dr. Sheridan review this paper’s findings and suggest further research. Justin Croyle, from Amazon robotics, will talk about his work with robotics and some of the current and future needs he sees that practitioners need from scientists to make HRI as effective, efficient, and safe as possible.

European Conference On Safety And Reliability (ESREL), the 33rd European Safety and Reliability Conference. ESREL is the annual event in the area of reliability analysis, risk assessment, risk management and optimisation of the safety performance of socio-technological systems. The topic of ESREL 2023 is “The Future of Safety in a Reconnected World”. The conference will be held at the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, on 3-8 September, 2023. Conference website.

PACDEFF – The Pacific and Australasian CRM Developers’ and Facilitators’ Forum, 12-13 September, 2023. PACDEFF is the largest CRM, NTS and aviation human factors conference of its type in the world. The forum is intended as an opportunity for human factors practitioners to meet and discuss contemporary issues in the human factors field, with an emphasis on airline training. Conference website.
