Good Work Design


How to employ the discipline of design to create good work. We’ll examine the discipline of design (the applications of service design with user experience) when considering the strategies employed at work. This is a presentation on HOW TO design good work, not just WHY.

Dr Elise Crawford is a Senior Lecturer at CQUniversity who specialises in professional practice in human factors and the safety sciences.
Sara Pazell is the principal work design strategist of a human-centred design consultancy in Australia.


Mental Health in a Fly In Fly Out Job

HFEMC 2023

The 5th Biennial conference of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Malaysia.

Answering the “So What” question about Human Robotic Interactions


In 2016, T. Sheridan published a review paper on the status and challenges of Human-Robotic Interactions (HRI), and it continues to be one of the most cited publications in human factors. In this most recent instalment of Research to Practice, answering the “So What” question, we will have Dr. Sheridan review this paper’s findings and suggest further research. Justin Croyle, from Amazon robotics, will talk about his work with robotics and some of the current and future needs he sees that practitioners need from scientists to make HRI as effective, efficient, and safe as possible.


The future of work and challenges for HFE

ESREL 2023

European Conference On Safety And Reliability (ESREL), the 33rd European Safety and Reliability Conference. ESREL is the annual event in the area of reliability analysis, risk assessment, risk management and optimisation of the safety performance of socio-technological systems. The future of work and the challenges for HFE from South Korea


In this webinar we will be hearing about the future of work from South Korea and the challenges that this raises for human factors and ergonomics. The presenter is Professor Taezoon Park, from the Department of Industrial & Information Systems Engineering at Soongsil University, South Korea. PACDEFF – The Pacific and Australasian CRM Developers’ and Facilitators’ Forum, 12-13 September, 2023. PACDEFF is the largest CRM, NTS and aviation human factors conference of its type in the world. The forum is intended as an opportunity for human factors practitioners to meet and discuss contemporary issues in the human factors field, with an emphasis on airline training. Conference website.


HFES 67th Annual Meeting and Exhibition

Where:Washington, DC

67th International Annual Meeting of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society will take place 23-27 October, 2023.

The annual meeting will feature more than 130 concurrent sessions, 600 technical presentations, hours of dedicated networking time, plus interactive poster presentations and demonstrations. Registration is now open.
