The conference theme is “Innovating for the Future: Human-Centered Organizational Design in the Age of Emerging Technologies and Evolving Work”. AHFE 2026 will be held at Fenerbahçe University, Istanbul, from 20-24 July. The conference will address theoretical, generic, and applied areas of human factors and ergonomics. The International Annual Meeting of the HFES (The US Human Factors and Ergonomics Society), from 19-23 October 2026. The event will bring together academics, practitioners, students and industry professionals to discuss human-centred systems. This year’s theme is “The Perfect Fit”. The HFESA annual event will be held from 30 Nov to 2 Dec in the centre of Sydney, close to the best attractions, shopping precincts and entertainment venues. European Conference On Safety And Reliability (ESREL), the 33rd European Safety and Reliability Conference. ESREL is the annual event in the area of reliability analysis, risk assessment, risk management and optimisation of the safety performance of socio-technological systems. In 2016, T. Sheridan published a review paper on the status and challenges of Human-Robotic Interactions (HRI), and it continues to be one of the most cited publications in human factors. In this most recent instalment of Research to Practice, answering the “So What” question, we will have Dr. Sheridan review this paper’s findings and suggest further research. Justin Croyle, from Amazon robotics, will talk about his work with robotics and some of the current and future needs he sees that practitioners need from scientists to make HRI as effective, efficient, and safe as possible.
